This paper presents an analysis of the content of Polish school textbooks for teaching history in the context of the USA’s entry into World War I in 1917. School textbooks have been chosen as the dominant source of student history knowledge. Fourteen textbooks were analysed: seven for the third stage of education (lower secondary schools) and seven for the fourth stage (upper secondary schools, technical schools). These were used between 2001 and 2017. The USA’s entry into the Great War undoubtedly had a decisive impact on the outcome of the global conflict. Accotding to many historians, the US accession to the war in 1917 was of significant importance for the final resolution of the conflict, and thus also the revival of the independedt Polish state. In the article, we analyse this issue on the basic of contemporary Polish school history education. Textbooks for high school and technical school students were used as the source. Their authors agreed that "the entrance of Uncle Sam into the game", that is, the accession of the United States to the war in 1917 was one of the landmark moments in its over four - year history.
